All You Need to Know About LED Color Temperature

What is LED Color Temperature

Color temperature is a temperature measurement method that is commonly used in the fields of physics and astronomy. This concept is based on a fictional black object that emits different colors of light when heated to different temperatures, and its objects appear in different colors. Just like when heating an iron block, the iron block turns red first, then yellow, and finally white.

Can you change the color temperature of an LED Light?

The only situations that arise that will change the color temperature of the LED are situations that are not good for the LED – eg. under or over driving it, or allowing the operating temperature to climb out of the normal operating range. These situations can slightly shift the color temperature, but not by much, and are likely to damage the LED.

Does temperature affect LED lighting?

Yes, the temperatures can affect the LED. LED lights are tested at around -40 degrees and upwards of 130 degrees. The cold has very little effect on LED lights.

What should my color temperature be?

Color temperature is usually expressed in Kelvin (K) rather than in Celsius.
Low color temperature: The color temperature is around 2500K-3300K, giving a warm and warm visual effect, also known as warm color temperature.
Neutral color temperature: The color temperature is between 3000 and 6000K, which is a neutral color temperature, also known as positive white light, which is easy to make people sober and convenient for efficient operation.
High color temperature: The color temperature exceeds 6000K, giving a cold feeling, which is commonly known as “cold color temperature”.

The following is a colour temperature comparison table for common LED lighting fixtures
